Who Says I Can’t Boil Water?

Dinner and a movie for Italian night!  Spaghetti & meatballs and “The Pope of Greenwich Village” starring a fabulously beautiful young Mickey Rourke.

So… Spaghetti’s pretty easy on the cooking scale of diffiiculty – even for me

So I fill the pot with water and turn on the burner to High … but… nothing… no fire.

Where’s the *foof* of fire that supposed to pop up?

So I figure, damn, I probably need to light the pilot.  And a-looking I go for the lighter.

Once I found the lighter, I went back to the burner to realize…

I have an electric stove.

  1. You are incredible. Martha Stewart’s got nothing on you.

  2. I watched the same movie last night. God, I love Mickey Rourke. Even his bad movies are fun.

  3. Ron – what can I say – I think my brain is like Martha Stewart’s hand towels – for decoration only.

Bez – Yeah, he’s pretty awesome – I hope The Wrestler (which was one of the most moving movie experiences I’ve had in a long time) wasn’t just a fluke and that he’s back for quite awhile.

  4. ooooh, girl… this may require intervention. although i was heckled by my family once for standing in front of the microwave oven, confused as to why it didn’t work during a power failure….

  5. I’m glad that it was only that. I thought it was going to end up that you spent fifteen minutes looking for a lighter and when you lit the burner it ruined your “do”.

  6. Bravo, Amber! Would love to have been there. Did you ever get to enjoy your spasketti with Mickey, though?

  7. Don’t cook much, huh? Not everyone would have admitted this publicly. ;)

  8. U should of ask me I am cooking girl extrodinaire

  9. Daisy – ha! See? Your microwave story makes me look brilliant! ;-)

Finn – can you imagine, I’m still single?

Demo – actually when I went to go light the electric stove, I actually did worry that I was going to blow myself up. I’m only half-stupid.

Hs. Hogenswallow – Yes, Mr. Wonderful came over to the rescue and made a good dinner.

Jim – I’ve lived here 3 years, ya think I may have figured the stove situation before now… yeah… um, no.

Mommy – you may be a cooking girl extraordinaire, but if you can see in California that I have an electric stove in Massachusetts – well, that would be something indeed. I promise if I ever try to boil water again, I will call you. :-)

  10. Finish the story. Did you ever get the pilot lit?
