If you expect a bad thing to happen then you open to door to allowing any old thing that happens to get elevated to that bad thing. If you’re happy, you need to embrace a new bad habit: looking down on all the poor suckers who aren’t as happy as you.

Lynnster – Thank you for commenting and your thoughtful reply. Retrospect is always a fun game but you can only do what you’re ready for at any given moment. Sometimes I entertain regrets but ultimately, there’s no point in it. We just move on, straight ahead. And then one day we look back and say, “Wow, that was tough, but I made it through”.

my ex-husband mostly moved to our vacation home in 2001, but we didn’t get around to talking about divorce until 2005, with the paperwork done in 2006. sometimes the bandaid does come off one hair at a time…
